The Dream Spouse
/
Hebrews 10:24 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”
I have been reflecting on marriage as Jana and I have been studying for our marriage series and here is a truth that I wholeheartedly believe in; to have a dream spouse you must first BE A DREAM SPOUSE.
Often times we are thinking about what our spouse needs to do better, or how they need to improve … but if we would do everything we can to improve ourselves and just give ourselves to our spouse, loving them, cherishing them, respecting them, adoring them … how can we go wrong.
I realize that this works optimally when it is reciprocated … in other words; as you love more they love more. Unfortunately this doesn’t always happen … still I am convinced that the principle is true.
It’s the same in life; when you are nice to people, they seem to be nice back.
Now guys, I didn’t say if you just leave them alone and stay out of their way … that’s avoidance! Being silent doesn’t constitute being nice. I can hear a guy saying, “all I do is mind my own business and drink beer and watch football … I am not doing anything to her”. And therein lies your problem.
So, for you who are reading this why don’t you determine to really love your spouse and remember why you walked down the isle however many years ago. Reconnect.
I pray that you find and keep the love that brought you together!
