New Place of Worship
/NEW LOCATION BEGINNING: Sunday, May 8th - 10:00AM
Mercy Church (Formerly Known As: Olathe Life Fellowship) was birthed in our hearts many many years ago (1994) just before graduating from Bible College, but it would be 9 years later before that dream became a reality in the dining room of my home with just 10 people.
I was born (April 14, 1969) and raised in Kansas City, graduating in 1987 from Shawnee Mission West High School located in Overland Park, KS. Yes, I graduated with Paul Rudd the famous actor, and yes we were friends; he lived just down the street from me in Lenexa, he is a great guy.
It was in 2002 that we (Jana and I) felt that the time to start Mercy Church was close. We felt called to Kansas City, still do, so we loaded up the family for a road trip to KC to spy out the land. At that time we were living in Houston, Texas working for The Ark Family Church (Conroe, TX,) pastor Alan Clayton, as Student Pastors.
Kansas City, there's no place like home!
So on Sunday, January 3, 2003 we had our first service at Indian Trail Junior High in Olathe, KS with 64 people showing up on the cold winter day, then in 2004 we moved next door to Olathe South High School to accommodate the growth. Then in 2009 we felt God leading us to move the church once again to be more centrally located in the Kansas City Metro, landing at Indian Hills Middle School in Prairie Village, KS. on February 2010. We love the area, and it has put us in the middle of the KC Metro. We are pretty much 15 - 20 minutes from anywhere in the KC Metro.
We are moving again, but this time not but a mile from our current location. We are moving to 7501 Belinder Ave. in Prairie Village, KS. Just East of Mission Rd. on 75th St., but the exciting thing is that it's a church building, not a Cafeterium (Cafeteria/Auditorium,) but a real beautiful church with a sanctuary. We are leasing from Kol Ami, a Jewish congregation that holds their services on Fridays.
As I have always said, church is not a building! I still hold to this truth 100%! But it's like money, it doesn't make you happy, but it's nice to have it.
I hope that you will join us, even if you are apart of another church now, because if you ever attended Mercy Church you are a part of the story, and for that I am thankful, plus we would love to see you again! God bless you all!
